First Mennonite Church
Worship: 9:30-10:30
Fellowship Time: 10:30-11:00
Sunday School: 11:00-12:00

We believe in Jesus and take his life, teachings, death and resurrection
as the model for how we live and the message we proclaim.
We seek to be a caring and discerning community,
the gathered body of Christ,
that welcomes all to join in worship, study, and service.
We embody God’s transforming and redeeming Spirit in the world
through our prophetic witness and actions.

Their Delight is. . .the Lord

Focus Statement:

Born from above, daughters of love, hearts of compassion our bond. Branches entwined bear fruit from the vine, celebrate life in the Kingdom of God.

*Call to Worship:
L: We sit in this meeting house in quiet rows.
P: Our bodies carry our stories even when we can’t say them.
L: So many of us are bone weary, or on the way to it.
All: Jesus, you know the heavy burdens we carry day by day, and especially at night. A yoke isn’t exactly what we are looking for.
L: As we bow our heads to pray, your gentle, scarred hands lift something from us with the quietest of movements.
All: You see the subtle shift of our shoulders, the way they settle down, like a child settling in its mother’s arms relaxing under the weight of her long loving gaze. Home, at last.

It is our prayer that through the implementation of this plan, created in 2017 by Amy Huser with participation from Camp staff, board, and constituents, we might more fully live into our core values, especially those of stewardship, nature, and simplicity. We also look ahead to another summer of camping, and to welcoming the summer staff and campers who will join us as together we explore Jesus’ call to “Follow.” Please continue to remember all who make Friedenswald part of their summer. May we continue to learn what it means to be “Followers of the Way.”
Once again, thank you for being engaged and committed to the ministry of Camp Friedenswald! We couldn’t do it without your support.” In Peace, Jenna Liechty Martin, Executive Director.
