Sugarcreek, Ohio February 11, 2018
Worship: 9:30-10:30

We believe in Jesus and take his life, teachings, death and resurrection
as the model for how we live and the message we proclaim.
***********************************
We seek to be a caring and discerning community,
the gathered body of Christ,
that welcomes all to join in worship, study, and service.
***********************************
We embody God’s transforming and redeeming Spirit in the world
through our prophetic witness and action.

THE CHURCH WORSHIPS TOGETHER___

~Gathering~

Ringing of the Bell:
Prelude: “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing” – arr. Kirk
Welcome & Announcements:
Focus Statement:

“We who were formerly no people at all, and who knew of no peace, are now called to be…a church…of peace. True Christians do not know vengeance. They are the children of peace. Their hearts overflow with peace. Their mouths speak peace, and they walk in the way of peace.”
~Menno Simons~

Time of Meditation: “The Love of God” – arr. Lehman

*Gathering Hymn:
“Jesus Calls Us Here to Meet Him” Sing the Journey #3 (vs. 1,3)

All: “Happy are those who strive for peace—they shall be called to sons of God.

WL: “There is a saying, ‘Love your friends and hate your enemies.’ But I say: Love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In
that way you will be acting as true sons of your Father in heaven…'”

*Reading::
WL: We so easily use and misuse the word
love. We say we love our car,
April: but we can’t stand a co-worker
WL: We say we love this color of fabric,
April: but we snub a brother or sister in Christ.
WL: We make excuses that so-and-so doesn’t deserve our love.
*Prayer:
All: Forgive us, gracious God, for not believing or for ignoring your reconciling love shown in Jesus on the cross.
WL/April: With you we can love those we cannot love without you.
All: Through Jesus we pray. Amen.
